Came across a new wrinkle for issue solving at a previous company. Rahter than organiae, prioritise and summarise the problems set they decided to write out each one on a whiteboard and then discuss them all at the two daily stand ups. This led to a proliferation of whiteboards until all the spare ones had been used. At this point, rather than rethink a new innovation was introduced which as the “stick on” whiteboard which come in a handy roll so all the adjacent spare surface became white boards and the two stand ups slowly expanded until they were in danger of merging and becoming the preferred method of working.
This way of working was of course graced with the title ‘agile’ and the stand ups were ‘scrums’ so of course this graced the whole process with a modicum of sense although the process was not.
