Apple Swift ios8 programming

Apple Swift Notes

Unless you have been living in a cave somewhere you cannot have missed the new language from Alles for iOS 8 development (and soon the OS X platform) and the attendant hoo-ha.

Surprisingly, and it make wonder sometimes about Apple as to whether they actually do thier research or or just don’t give a sh*t but there is already a well established language called Swift. Swift (non Apple) is a fast easy parallel scripting language running on multicores, clusters, clouds and supercomputers See on more ….

OK back to Apple Swift. I am not going to go into the what or how of Swift, go to the apple site for the language and read there. Also Apple have produced copious documentation to get you going. Here i am going to list a few of the interesting tools and third party libraries that are springing up around swift that have crossed my iOS6 Plus screen in the last few days.

  • SQLite.swift A pure Swift framework wrapping SQLite3.

  • Swift in flux Swift is not [supposed] to be stable but between announcmwent and GM it moved around a bit Swiftinflux tracked and continues to track this movement. It is a community driven attempt to track the changes. This is a github project so you can also contribute to it is you want.
